Gotham FC Visits Houston to Close Out Three-Match Road Swing

HOUSTON (July 31, 2026) - Gotham FC closes out its three-match road swing Saturday night with a visit to Shell Energy Stadium to face the Houston Dash for the second meeting between the clubs this season.

Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET, with the match streaming on NWSL+. For more details on how to find NWSL+, visit here.

Gotham FC (10-3-4, 34 points) enters the weekend following a 1-0 road victory over Bay FC on Wednesday night at PayPal Park. Midge Purce scored the decisive goal just two minutes into the match for her second consecutive goal in the opening five minutes, while goalkeeper Shelby Hogan recorded her second straight clean sheet in as many appearances this year. The victory kept Gotham FC within two points of first-place Washington and extended the club's unbeaten run to five matches.

Houston (5-7-4, 19 points) returns home after a dramatic 1-0 victory over Bay FC on July 24. Rookie midfielder Linda Ullmark scored the game-winning goal in second-half stoppage time, giving the Dash their third stoppage-time winner of the season. Houston enters the weekend 12th in the NWSL standings, level on points with 11th-place Denver Summit FC.

Saturday marks the second meeting between the clubs this season after Gotham FC earned a 1-0 victory at Sports Illustrated Stadium on May 31 before the league's summer break. Rookie forward Jordynn Dudley scored the lone goal of the match, finishing a through ball from club captain Tierna Davidson.

Historically, Gotham FC holds the edge in the series with a 12-10-6 record against Houston across all competitions, including a 5-3-4 mark on the road at Shell Energy Stadium.

Following Saturday's match, Gotham FC returns home for a two-match homestand, beginning Friday, Aug. 7, against San Diego Wave FC. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET, with coverage on Prime Video.

Key Points:

  • Gotham FC has lost just once in its last five meetings with the Houston Dash, posting a 3-1-1 record during that span.
  • Gotham FC enters Saturday on a five-match unbeaten streak, matching its longest undefeated run of the season. The club previously went unbeaten in five straight matches from April 29 to May 15.
  • Midge Purce scored in the second minute of Gotham FC's 1-0 victory at Bay FC on Wednesday, marking the second consecutive match she has found the net in the second minute. Gotham FC became the first team in NWSL history to score within the opening two minutes in back-to-back regular-season matches. Combined with Jordynn Dudley's first-minute goal in April, Gotham is also the first club in league history to score within the opening two minutes of three different regular season matches.
  • Purce's goal against Bay FC was the 28th regular season goal of her NWSL career and the 14th game-winning goal. She is the only player in NWSL history to score at least 20 regular season goals with half or more of those goals serving as match winners.
