Now entering his fourth season with NJ/NY Gotham FC as Head Goalkeeper Coach, Brody Sams brings over a decade of experience in elite and professional football across both the women's and men's game. A native of Australia, he has had the privilege of working with and supporting top-level goalkeepers who have gone on to achieve success in professional leagues worldwide, as well as on the global stage at the Olympics and FIFA Women’s World Cup.
With a background spanning all levels of the game - from youth academies to senior professional football - Sams has developed a holistic approach to coaching that emphasises not only technical and tactical development but also to optimising human performance, leadership, and psychology. integrating proven coaching techniques with a deep appreciation of the game’s tactical and psychological aspects. His passion has always been on helping goalkeepers reach their full potential by integrating coaching and teaching methodologies with a deep understanding and appreciation of the game’s tactical and psychological demands.
At Gotham FC, Sams plays a key role in building a world-class goalkeeper department, working closely with our Goalkeepers, Ann-Katrin Berger, Shelby Hogan, and Ryan Campbell, while also contributing to the development of future goalkeeper coaches. He is fortunate to now collaborate with former Gotham FC captain and longtime goalkeeper Michelle Betos, who has stepped into the role of Assistant Goalkeeper Coach.
