Gotham FC and defender Sam Hiatt Part Ways

HARRISON, NJ (Wednesday, December 4, 2024) - NJ/NY Gotham FC announced today that defender Sam Hiatt has departed the club to pursue opportunities in free agency.

“I’m so grateful for my time at Gotham,” said Hiatt. “It’s been an incredible year and everything I had hoped for when I decided to come to this organization. Thank you to the club, the coaching staff, the fans, and my teammates - there’s no doubt I have grown as a player and a person, and I am forever grateful for your amazing support this year.”

Hiatt joined the club in 2024 after the club acquired the defender in a three-way trade with Racing Louisville and Seattle Reign FC. In the 2024 regular season with Gotham FC, Hiatt scored her first career goal and recorded a career high in appearances with 17.

“Sam is a high caliber player and person,” said Gotham FC General Manager and Head of Soccer Operations Yael Averbuch West. “We will be rooting for her continued success on and off the field in her next chapter.”

Prior to joining Gotham FC, the defender spent the four previous years with Seattle, where she was the 33rd overall pick for the club at the 2020 NWSL Draft. Hiatt also helped the Reign secure the 2022 NWSL Shield.
