KINGSTON (Thursday, October 3, 2024) -In its final international road game of the group stage, NJ/NY Gotham FC defeated Frazier’s Whip 13-0 on Wednesday night in Jamaica. Seven different players got on the scoresheet, with forwards Yazmeen Ryan and Lynn Williams recording hattricks and midfielder Taryn Torres earning a brace.
After connecting and maintaining possession, Gotham FC found the back of the net in the 13th minute. Gotham FC defender Jenna Nighswonger drove towards the byline and played a cutback cross in the box, where Ryan buried the shot.Just three minutes later, Ryan notched her brace. Forward Esther slipped a ball through the backline where Ryan found the back of the net on a first time shot.
Gotham FC eventually found the back of the net again in the 38th minute, when defender Mandy Freeman scored her first goal for the club in all competitions in 2024. Nighswonger played in the corner kick and defender Emily Sonnett redirected the ball towards Freeman, who finished first time.
Just before the half, Cece Kizer found the back of the net, which marks her first with the club. Midfielder Taryn Torres played a bending ball into the box, and Kizer was there to finish the play.
Then, to open the half, Nighswonger also found the back of the net to bring the score to 5-0.Torres recorded a brace of her own in just a minute. In the 52nd minute, Kizer played a ball to Torres at the top of the six-yard box, where she took a prep touch and fired a shot that took a deflection into goal.
A minute later, Ryan played a simple pass to Torres at the top of the eighteen-yard box. The midfielder took a prep touch the bent in a shot, upper-90 into goal.
Then, in a span of 11 minutes on the pitch, Williams nettedher hat trick. She found the back of the net in the 82', 86' and 90+3' minutes. Additionally, forward Jéssica Silva scored her first goal in a Gotham FC kit in the 83' minute.
The game finished with an own goal from Frazsiers Whip to bring the scoreline to 13-0.
Gotham FC will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 5 against Bay FC at Red Bull Arena (7:30 p.m. ET, ION).
