Gotham FC's Berger, Davidson Named to NWSL Best XI of the Month for August

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (Sept. 4, 2026) - Gotham FC goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger and defender and club captain Tierna Davidson have been named to the NWSL Best XI of the Month for August, presented by Amazon Prime, the league announced Friday.

Berger and Davidson led a dominant defensive stretch for Gotham FC, which went unbeaten in August with three wins and two draws while conceding just two goals across five matches. Gotham recorded a league-best three shutouts during the month.

Davidson was ever-present for Gotham, starting all five matches and playing every minute for a total of 450. The club captain led the NWSL with 513 touches, 451 passes and 421 completed passes during August while helping anchor the back line for all three clean sheets.

Berger continued to set the standard in goal, conceding just two goals in four starts, tied for the fewest in the NWSL during the month. The German international posted a league-best 0.50 goals-against average while recording two shutouts and 12 saves across 360 minutes.

Berger also won five duels, the most among NWSL goalkeepers in August.

Gotham FC returns to action Sunday, traveling to face Denver Summit FC and looking to extend its club-record 10-match unbeaten streak. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. ET on CBS.
