JERSEY CITY, N.J. (Aug. 21, 2026) — Gotham FC has transferred midfielder Sarah Schupansky to Boston Legacy FC in exchange for $50,000 in general allocation money and $30,000 in intraleague transfer funds, the club announced Friday.
Schupansky joined Gotham FC ahead of the 2025 season from the University of Pittsburgh and made 49 appearances across all competitions during her time with the club, recording one goal and eight assists in 2,511 minutes.
The $50,000 in allocation money acquired from Boston Legacy FC will remain available to Gotham FC through the 2027 season. Under current NWSL rules, most existing allocation money across the league must be spent or withdrawn by the end of 2026, making the funds acquired in this transaction available for an additional year. Allocation money can be used in a variety of ways, including toward the NWSL salary cap.
“Sarah has played an important role at Gotham FC over the past two seasons, and we’re grateful for the contributions she has made to our group,” said Yael Averbuch West, the president of soccer operations for Gotham FC. “She has approached every day with professionalism, dedication and a commitment to the club, and we’re proud to have played a part in the beginning of her professional career. We wish Sarah continued success in this next chapter.”
Schupansky helped Gotham FC win the 2024-25 Concacaf W Champions Cup and the 2025 NWSL Championship before adding an NWSL Challenge Cup title in 2026. In her debut NWSL campaign in 2025, she recorded five regular season assists, tied for the second-most in a single season in club history, while her 63 corner kicks also ranked second in club history for a single season. She also registered a goal or assist in three consecutive matches.
Prior to joining Gotham FC, Schupansky starred at the University of Pittsburgh, where she captained the Panthers and led the NCAA with 15 assists as a senior in 2024. A year earlier, she became the first player in program history to earn All-ACC First Team honors after recording 11 goals and 14 assists.
