HARRISON, NJ (Friday, January 10, 2025) - Gotham FC announced today the signing of goalkeeper Ryan Campbell to a contract through the 2025 season.
"I would like to first express my gratitude to General Manager Yael Averbuch West, and the Gotham coaching staff for this opportunity,” said Campbell. “It is a major lifetime fulfillment for me to be able to represent Gotham FC. But above all, this moment in time is a catalyst, a turning point in my goalkeeping career that will demand the utmost focus and determination from me."
Campbell wrapped up her final year of college soccer in 2024 with the UCLA Bruins after transferring from Stanford, where she played for four years. As the Bruins' starting goalkeeper, she played every minute of every match in 2024, logging 2,171 minutes and leading the nation with 16 clean sheets— the second-most in UCLA history for a single season. Campbell earned First-team All-North Region honors, Second-team All-Big Ten recognition, and was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List.
In 2023, while playing for Stanford, Campbell was named Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Year. She allowed just 13 goals in 23 matches, making 60 saves. Her 0.601 goals-against average, .822 save percentage, and 11 shutouts all ranked first in the Pac-12. Campbell also earned First-team United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors and was an All-Pac-12 honoree.
“Ryan had an outstanding collegiate career and we believe that she has all the tools to be an outstanding professional goalkeeper,” said Yael Averbuch West, Gotham FC General Manager and Head of Soccer Operations. “We’re excited to welcome her to the club and look forward to supporting her continued growth as a player.”
On the international stage, Campbell has participated in U.S. Youth National Team camps at the U-14, U-15, U-16, U-17, and U-23 levels. She also competed with the U-23 team at the 2023 Thorns Preseason Tournament.
