JERSEY CITY, N.J. (Oct. 8, 2026) – Gotham FC has acquired forward Olivia Wingate from the North Carolina Courage in an intraleague deadline day deal, the club announced Thursday in partnership with Dove.
Wingate, who is signed through the end of the 2026 campaign, joins Gotham FC via free transfer from the Courage, where she began her professional career in 2023. She will wear No. 29 for Gotham FC.
“I’m incredibly excited to join Gotham FC and become part of such an ambitious club,” said Wingate. “I can’t wait to get started, meet my new teammates and staff and compete for trophies together. I’m looking forward to getting to New Jersey and New York and getting to work!"
“Olivia is an energetic attacking player who brings pace, directness and a willingness to take on defenders,” said Yael Averbuch West, the president of soccer operations for Gotham FC. “She has shown she can contribute at the NWSL level, and we’re excited to add her to our group.”
Wingate was selected sixth overall in the first round of the 2023 NWSL Draft by the Courage after an impressive collegiate career at Notre Dame. The forward has recorded two goals and five assists in 28 regular season appearances, with both goals coming as a substitute, and won the 2023 NWSL Challenge Cup with North Carolina.
At Notre Dame, Wingate totaled 26 goals and 11 assists in 95 appearances across five seasons. Following a strong senior campaign, she earned First Team All-ACC and Third Team All-American honors.
A native of Medford, Massachusetts, Wingate has represented the United States at the youth level, featuring for the U-16 and U-18 national teams.
